 A VISIT TO MANERPLAW

Recently, a delegation from Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (ARIF) led by its Chairman Br. Nurul Islam paid a visit to Manerplaw, the Headquaters of the Karen National Union ( KNU) at the invitation of the KNU. It is due to the political sagacity of the Karen leadership that today Headquaters of National Democratic Front (NDF), Democratic Alliance of Burma (DAB), National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB) and others are in establishment at KNU liberated zone of Manerplaw. Thus Manerplaw becomes the last refuge of the forces that are trying to bring about democratic change in the country.

The ARIF delegation was warmly welcome by the KNU. During their visit they had several rounds of talk on various issues of mutual interest with Karen leaders, including Gen. Saw Bo Mya, President of KNU and Chariman of DAB, KNU Vice-President Bado Than Aung and its General Secretary Bado Ba Thin. The delegation also visited the Headquaters of the NDF and DAB and conferred with the leaders on the latest situation of Burma and importance of coordination among the revolutionary organisations fighting against the present State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) military regime.

Fruitful discussions were made also with the leaders of Kachin Independence Organisation ( KIO). Chin National Front (CNF). All Burma Muslim Union (ABMU), People's Patriotic Party (PPP), New Mon State Party (NMSP). The delegation also met with the leaders of Shan State Progressive Party (SSPP), Plaung State Liberation Party (PSLP). People's Liberation Front
