ေပ်ာ္ရႊင္ေလ့လာ အဂၤလိပ္စာ (၁)

(1) On fire
      -----------

A man called the fire brigade shouting.“ Fire! Fire!" Where is it?, asked the switch board operator.
“In my house!"
“I mean the location of the fire"
“In my kitchen!"
“Yes, but how do we got to your house?"
“You have a fire engine, don't you?"

မီးေလာင္ေနတယ္

       လူတစ္ေယာက္သည္ မီးသတ္တပ္ဖြဲ႕သို႔ ဖုန္းဆက္၍ ေအာ္ေျပာေလသည္။
“မီးဗ်ဳိ႕ မီး . . . မီးေလာင္ေနတယ္"
“ ဘယ္မွာလဲ ခင္ဗ်ာ . . ."
“ကြၽန္ေတာ့္ အိမ္မွာဗ်ာ"
“ကြၽန္ေတာ္ ေမးတာက ဘယ္အပိုင္းမွာလဲလို႔ ေမးတာ"
“ကြၽန္ေတာ့္ မီးဖိုေခ်ာင္မွာဗ်"
“ဟုတ္ပါၿပီ။ ဒါေပမဲ့ ကြၽန္ေတာ္တို႔က ခင္ဗ်ားအိမ္ကို ဘယ္လိုလာရမွာလဲ။"
“ခင္ဗ်ားတို႔မွာ မီးသတ္ကား ရိွတယ္မဟုတ္လားဗ်"

(2) got a head
      ----------------
Father    : Work hard and you'll get ahead.
Son        : But I've already got a head, Dad!

ဖခင္       - အလုပ္ကို ႀကိဳးစားလုပ္။ ဒါမွ        
                ေအာင္ျမင္မွာ။    
သား       - { get ahead သည္ ေက်ာ္လႊားသည္၊
                ေအာင္ျမင္သည္ ဟု အဓိပၸာယ္ရသည္။
                သားျဖစ္သူက get a head ဟု ယူဆ
                ကာ}    
                ဒါေပမဲ့ သားက ေခါင္းတစ္လံုးရိွၿပီး
                သားေလ ေဖေဖရဲ႕။
